The Jews Oppose the Gospel

Paul and Barnabas went southeast and came to Iconium. In every city they went, they would first go into the Jewish synagogue to preach the gospel. The Jews who were against Christ always opposed them. When Paul and Barnabas preached in the synagogue in Iconium, signs and wonders followed them. A great number of Jews and Greeks believed. But there were also many Jews who opposed. As a result, two factions were formed𥿡elievers and rivals of the gospel. An upheaval broke out in the city. Those who opposed the gospel plotted to stone Paul and Barnabas to death. When Paul and Barnabas became aware of it, they fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region, where they continued their missionary work.
