The Holy Spirit kept Paul and his companions from preaching the word in the province of Asia. They traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, trying to go north to enter Bithynia, but the Holy Spirit did not allow them. Instead, they came down to Troas where they were joined by Luke. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, 𦒄ome over to Macedonia and help us. When Paul knew the Holy Spirit had work to do in Macedonia, they sailed to Samothrace, went through Neapolis, and came to Philippi, the leading city of that district of Macedonia (Acts 16:610).
