Paul䏭 Last Words to the Elders of Ephesus

Paul sent the co-workers to sail from Troas. He himself went on foot to Assos, where he met the co-workers and boarded the same boat. They sailed through Mitylene, Samos and came to Miletus on the third day. Due to the riot at Ephesus, Paul decided to sail past Ephesus so he would not be delayed.

From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church. When the elders came, Paul told them that the Holy Spirit had warned him in every city that imprisonment and afflictions were awaiting him and that he would not be able to go to Ephesus again. He also said many words of encouragement to them and led them to pray. What grieved them most was his statement that they would never see his face again. They all wept as they embraced Paul and kissed him. And they accompanied him to the ship (Acts 20: 1338).
