The Word that Became Flesh The Word Becomes FleshThe Word that Became Flesh The Word Becomes Flesh

Jesus, the Son of God, was with great glory and honor in heaven where an innumerable company of angels ministered before His throne. Yet, to fulfill God䏭 will, He abandoned heavenly glory and humbly came into the world more than 1,900 years ago. He was the Word that became flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. 覀菭e was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him仮 (John 1:1011).

He was rich. But for our sake He became poor, so that by His poverty we might become rich. He was born in a manger in Bethlehem of Judea. He was brought up in a carpenter䏭 family. He was so poor that He did not even have a place to lay His head. Nevertheless, He fully manifested God䏭 love and righteousness, giving salvation to countless suffering sinners. He lived for about 33 years, preaching, healing, casting out demons, and solving the problems of the afflicted. Through Him, the poor heard the good news, the hungry were fed, the demon-possessed were freed, the blind saw, the deaf heard, the dumb spoke, the lame walked, the lepers were cleansed, the dead rose, and the storms were calmed. He performed many other signs and wonders. All these proved that He is God. Wherever He went, the power of Satan was crushed.

Though Jesus had God䏭 authority and honor, He willingly served men in all humility. He is rich in kindness and mercy. Though He hates sin, He loves sinners. He never rejects those who come to Him. Jesus came not only to meet men䏭 temporal physical needs, but also to solve the eternal problems of their souls. He said: 鎿宇he Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many仮 (Matt. 20:28). Unless the problem of sins is solved, men cannot find true, everlasting peace.

When Jesus preached, He often rebuked the hypocrites and the self-righteous Pharisees, because they kept the letter of the law but disobeyed the truth. As a result, He was rejected by the Jews. Obviously, the world loves falsehood but not the truth. In the end, they crucified Jesus. This was the devil䏭 plot, but it accomplished the will of God, for the Lord came into the world for this very purpose. 覀姯his is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinner仮 (1 Tim. 1:15).
